Student Uniforms

Student Uniform/Dress Code

Christian students are ambassadors for Christ and should therefore be modest in their dress and their habits of life.

All students are expected to be neatly attired and modest in their appearance. Students from Kindergarten through grade 8th are required to wear the SLA School Uniform. There are also enhanced uniform days for Chapel.

ALL uniform items must be approved from the SLA school administration office.

The daily uniform attire is what students are expected to wear, specifically on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays.

  • Teal/Gray Polo shirt for all.
  • Black pants for boys (no shorts).
  • Black pleated skirts for girls (no skorts). Skirts must reach below the knees.
  • Tennis shoes or dress shoes for all.
  • Students not dressed in their uniform may be penalized academically by 10% or be sent home for the day. If sent home, no make-up work will be given.

 

Student attend a weekly Wednesday Chapel at Metro Savannah Baptist Church. In respect for that church setting, the student uniform for that day is as follows:

  • White Oxford shirt for all.
  • Black pants for boys (no shorts).
  • Black pleated skirts for girls (no skorts). Skirts must reach below the knees.
  • Long black tie for boys & short black tie for girls.
  • Dress shoes for all.

Fridays at Savannah Legacy are reserved for physical education & student electives. The required uniform is as follows:

  • Black basketball short or joggers for all.
  • Teal, gray, white, or black t-shirt or long sleeve shirt for all.
  • Tennis shoes for all.
  • Students may only wear school-approved outerwear.
  • Approved outerwear include: sweatshirts, jackets, sweaters, & vests with the school logo embroidered on it.
  • Non-uniform outerwear must be removed once inside the school building.
  • Students are not allowed to have hoods over their heads from sweatshirts or jackets, while in school.

On occasion, the school will offer students a “dress-down day,” where they can wear their non-uniform clothes.

  • Parents will be informed in advance of a dress-down day.
  • Students who dress-down on a non-approved day, may be penalized academically by 10% or be sent home for the day. If sent home, no make-up work will be given.
  • All dress down clothing must be appropriate (i.e. no short skirts/dresses, no see-through tops, no sagging pants, no tight jeans, no low-cut tops, & etc.)
  • Students are not allowed to wear slide-on sandals.

The Savannah Legacy Academy does allow students to wear jewelry, in moderation. However:

  • Students are not allowed to have any piercings, beyond the ears & if a student has multiple ear piercings, they may only wear one earring per ear.
  • Students may not wear more than one bangle bracelet on each arm.
  • Earrings must be small & not distracting.
  • Students are not allowed to wear headscarfs or wave caps.
  • Students who do not abide by these guidelines may be forced to remove inappropriate accessories or be academically penalized by 10%. Repeated offenses will result in the student being sent home.
