Preparation for algebra as students work with fractions, decimals, percent- ages, geometry, statistics, graphing, probability, algebraic expressions and equations, proportions and measurement with an emphasis on problem solving strategies.
 
Language Arts
Literature-based instructional program with emphasis on reading comprehension strategies and skills, development of vocabulary, spelling, grammar, writing process, composition in a variety of genres and styles. Bridge between knowledge-based grammar school programs to a process-based logic school program.

Art: Students continue to develop artistic skills and are challenged to begin to express their individual ideas through their art. Students will experience more advanced techniques using a variety of media.

Health fitness building: Build strength, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory endurance. Team sports education and sport explorations. Christian responsibility in fitness and play.

Bible Memory: Old Testament survey including creation, the patriarchs of Israel, conquest of Canaan, judges, and the kingdoms of David and Solomon. Weekly chapel.

Pre-Algebra A: Combines arithmetic and geometry with an emphasis on applied math, decimal notation, variables, and problem-solving.

English: Basic literary analysis of novels, short stories, drama, poetry, and non-fiction. Paragraph development and writing skills, multi-paragraph essays, English grammar, and vocabulary building.
 
Science
Earth Science: Introduction to the physical sciences in conjunction with study of earth and space. Concepts include meteorology, geology, oceanography, astronomy, and plate tectonics. A “hands-on” approach is emphasized to develop both laboratory skills and critical thinking skills.

History I: Introduction to history of the United States, colonization of the Civil War.

Art: Students will explore the elements of art by working with a variety of techniques and materials, and are exposed to advanced techniques used in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpting.

Choir: Choir will emphasize quality choral literature, basic music reading skills, proper vocal production, musical expression, and performance opportunities.

Drama: Students will develop basic skills of stage performance, pantomime, and improvisation. Students will engage in confidence building activities, and will participate in solo and group class performances.

Music Appreciation: Students develop listening skills necessary to better understand and appreciate music of many different genres. Students study elements of music and criticism. Historical overview of musical periods and styles; including the lives and major works of the great classical composers.

Athletic offerings for boys include: basketball, soccer, swimming, and track and field. Physical Science: Introduction to chemistry and physics. Begins with review of the scientific method and metric system. Concepts include classification of matter, atomic structure, chemical formula, chemical nomenclature, chemical reactions, acid/base chemistry, energy, motion, force, work, power, simple machines, magnetism, electricity, heat, and light. Laboratory sessions are used to reinforce the concepts presented in lecture.
 
Social Studies & Geography
History II: Continued history of the United States, the Civil War to the present. Historical skills include interpreting maps, graphs, charts, and political cartoons; distinguishing fact from opinion; using primary and secondary sources; analyzing cause and effect.
