Our History

Savannah Legacy Academy was founded on a legacy of education, mentorship, and community service. The school traces its roots to Ash Tree Learning Center, an after-school program launched in 1989 by Dr. Morris Brown and Margaret Brown. Ash Tree served as a safe haven for students in Savannah, blending academic support with mentorship, golf instruction, and character development.

In 2006, Ash Tree expanded into a full-time educational institution, and in 2019, the school was rebranded as Savannah Legacy Academy to reflect its growth and renewed vision. Today, SLA is proudly powered by the Browns’ children,Denise, Ariel, and Marcus, who carry forward their parents’ mission with passion and purpose. As second-generation educators and leaders, they are committed to continuing the legacy of innovative, student-centered learning that began over three decades ago.
